Alex Vasquez Joins Cavazos Hendricks Poirot, PC

Cavazos Hendricks Poirot, PC is delighted to welcome Alex Vasquez, now Of Counsel with the firm and returning to where he began his legal career as a summer law clerk. Alex’s most recent prior legal position was as Senior Associate General Counsel for Walmart where he enjoyed a long in-house career.

At Walmart, Alex advised public affairs and state and local government teams on risk identification, legal analysis, contracts negotiation and preparation, brand/reputation management, and compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies. In an earlier litigation role for Walmart, Alex directed significant class action cases involving complex legal issues. He developed strategy, managed outside counsel, and served as a liaison to internal clients.

Alex is an experienced legal department administrator having managed all outside counsel law firms for Walmart including evaluating outside counsel performance in substantive practice areas, cost-effectiveness, and diversity. He performed a strategic role in building a more diverse and talented legal department for Walmart and was responsible for the legal department's diversity program to increase diversity in-house, with law firms, and in the legal profession. For a time, he was also responsible for strategic planning, special projects, training, and implementation of processes and procedures for the litigation division.

Alex began his Walmart career managing a nationwide commercial litigation caseload involving various legal subject matter areas for business units including managing Walmart’s bankruptcy practice.

Prior to joining Walmart, Alex worked for more than ten years at Dallas law firms in civil trial practice, commercial litigation, contract law, labor and employment, probate, municipal law, and real estate law. Alex is honored to have served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the late Hon. Jorge A. Solis, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division.
